FAQ

Microblading, also known as eyebrow embroidery or 3D brows, is a relatively new manual method for enhancing eyebrows. It is considered to be permanent makeup, as compared to the traditional hair stroke technique done by machine. It is done using a very fine blade to deposit pigment into the epidermis. Because the color is closer to the surface, the strokes appear crisp and very fine. There is no spilling under the skin.

The difference with this and ordinary permanent makeup is that Microblading is NOT done by a machine. The pigment is manually placed into the skin. The Microblading manual pen is equipped with sterile packaged blades. The blade glides with the gentle pressure over the skin and causes fine cuts, as fine as a paper cut, leaving a trace that can hardly be distinguished from real hair. Depending on the drawing technique- of which we are experts- it creates an individual look perfect for your face and the style you are trying to achieve. Above all 3D, or HD, eyebrows absolutely do not appear as a tattoo.

Microblading is ideal for anyone wanting to enhance the look of their eyebrows. The results are natural looking hair-like strokes, regardless of the amount of the hair you currently have.

People suffering from alopecia, trigonometrical or any other condition that causes hair loss benefit greatly from Microblading, as well as people who simply aren’t happy with their eyebrows.

How Long Does The Treatment Take?

Usually Microblading is done in two session. The first takes two to three hours. In the first session, the brow is shaped and styled to the client’s preference, and pigment is applied. Four to six weeks later, the client returns for the second session for touch up. A touch up can take anywhere from one to two hours.

Why is It Necessary to Do a Touch Up?

A touch up is necessary because everyone heals differently and therefore results vary. Sometimes it is necessary to adjust the color and brow thickness by adding more strokes. In the touch up session, the final adjustments are made to assure the client’s satisfaction.

Is Microblading Painful?

The level of discomfort is relatively minor. Some people have reported the experience to be similar in pain to tweezing two or three hairs at the same time. Usually a topical anesthetics are safe and may contain lidocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine.

Redness and slight swelling in the area is common after the procedure. The feeling can be compared to the experience of a slight sunburn. Frequently Tylenol is used to address any discomfort.

How Long Does Microblading Last?

Generally Microblading lasts six to eighteen months, depending on skin type...normal, oily, or dry, as well as the age of the client...young or mature. It is not permanent like a tattoo, because the pigments are not implanted so deeply into the skin. Skincare is also a big factor in the duration of the results. It is very important to follow aftercare instructions. To maintain the brows, touch up appointments may be done every six to eighteen months.

What if I Don’t Like the Result?

Selecting your Microblading artist is an important decision. Choose wisely. Compare the work of various artists before choosing. Consider training and reviews.

Once you have selected an artist, discuss your expectations and desired outcome, including the shape, style, and color you wish. Also, remember that faces are never perfectly symmetrical. Adjustments may be made during touch up, such as pigment discoloration and color correction.

And finally, remember that Microbladed brows will eventually fade away if touch ups are not done.

How long does the appointment take?

Varies from person to person but we book out 4 hours total but on average will be 3.5 hours. This includes filling out paperwork (10-15 min), shaping the brows (1 hr), numbing (15-20min) and tattooing (1.5-2 hrs).

Is one session enough to achieve desired result?

We recommend two sessions for all clients. It is necessary for you to come back within 8-10 weeks for the touch up. Most clients will not see the desired result with just one session, especially if you are getting a correction, or have very little hair on a natural eyebrow. However, some clients retain color so well that we send them home without the first touch up. After that, we suggest for you to return once a year for a color boost.

Why are my brows so bold/dark after getting them done?

The ink will settle darker immediately after the procedure but your brows will fade into a much lighter and softer finish. Keep in mind that healed brows fade up to 50% and the shape will shrink a little. Check "Healed results" on our instagram/facebook highlights for reference.

How long is the healing process?

The average healing period is approximately 7-14 days but it takes a full month for the color to fully set in. You might experience color loss after the scabs completely fall off but this is completely normal. The color will come back after a few days or even weeks. You must wait a full month to see the final result.

Why are my brows cracking and peeling?

This is a part of the healing process as your skin is renewing itself. Some people don't scab at all but the majority do. Please do not peel off the scabs as you will experience blotchy and uneven outcomes.

Will I be able to get the service if I'd had previous brow work done?

Absolutely, yes! However, a picture is reviewed prior to confirming and there will be an additional cover up fee of $175 added.

Will I be able to get Ombre Poweder brows if I have little to no hair?

Absolutely, yes! No matter the hair density Ombre Powder Brows works on everyone and gives a beautiful filled in powder look. However, there will be an additional $100 fee charged because extra pigment will need to be used for the same outcome.

Powder Brows 1 (1)

Why Choose Ombre Powder over Microblading?

Less Invasive

Ombre powder brows are achieved using a small tattoo machine, which disperses extremely fine dots of pigments even into and across the skin in an airbrush or shading technique. Microblading uses a hand-tool that creates incisions or small cuts into the skin. Over time, repeated incisions into the same spots will cause trauma to the skin more quickly.

Less Pain & Bleeding

Ombre powder brows are less painful and creates less trauma to the skin due to the airbrush technique, thus minimal to zero bleeding. Microblading creates cuts into the skin, thus more bleeding is involved. Ombre powder has a similar sensation to an electric toothbrush pressed against the skin or rapid tweezing; some discomfort is to be expected as a needle is utilized. However, we use topical gel/creme lidocaine to aid in numbing the brow area.

Lasts Longer

Results vary based on lifestyle and skin type but ombre powder can last on average 2-3 years. Microblading, on the other hand, has a high likelihood of healing blotchy, spotty or with blurred strokes, thus requiring more frequent touch-ups, generating more long term wear and tear on the skin, the body repairs the wounded area by building collagen fibers, creating scars. Clients are more likely to have build up scars with microblading.

Great for All Skin Types

Ombre powder brows are great for any skin type. Microblading is only suitable for those with dry skin.

Still Looks Natural

While ombre powder brows have a more "filled in" look, the healed results appear like softly shaded brow pencil or powder. Immediately after the treatment, ombre powder can appear more saturated and bold, however, brows will fade up to 40% leaving a very soft finish and shape that will allow clients to quickly groom their brows going forward with a beautiful shape already designed.
