Microblading

Microblading is one of the hottest permanent makeup options. This procedure mimics hair-like strokes in 3D and is created with a manual handheld blade tool. This technique blends seamlessly with your existing hair and is most compatible with Normal/Dry skin types. It can be applied on oily skin, but may have a shorter retention rate and strokes may not heal as crisp. It lasts 1-2 years depending on skin type and lifestyle. For those that have oily skin but want 3D hair strokes, we recommend Nano Brows which uses a machine for the technique and will give the same result and longevity.

Ombre Powder Brows

About Ombre Powder

The ombre powder method is very similar to a traditional tattoo, and involves the application of thousands of tiny dots of pigment, inserted into the skin, gradually building up a colour and defined shape. The technique is described by its name, with results being powdery with a faded front and a crisp tail, resembling the look of makeup. Can be customized to be as light (natural) or as dramatic (crisp and bold) as the client chooses.

Pros

Ombre powder brows provides longer lasting results, and works with most skin types, including oily or combination skin. Clients come back for colour boosts closer to the 12-18 month mark. The brow is also fuller and more defined or dramatic than with the hair stroke method.

Cons

Because this method has been around for a long time, it doesn't have the best reputation. Many people are fearful of this method looking unnatural, because it does create a more defined opaque look. However, ombre brows can be made to look very natural, by not saturating the desired brow shape 100% with pigment and allowing for a defined yet soft/non solid look.

Who Is It Best For:

If you have oily or combination skin, or fill in your brows regularly with pencil or shadow, then this is the method for you! It mimics the look of filled in brows, without all the effort each morning.

Why Choose Ombre Powder over Microblading?

Less Invasive

Ombre powder brows are achieved using a small tattoo machine, which disperses extremely fine dots of pigments even into and across the skin in an airbrush or shading technique. Microblading uses a hand-tool that creates incisions or small cuts into the skin. Over time, repeated incisions into the same spots will cause trauma to the skin more quickly.

Less Pain & Bleeding

Ombre powder brows are less painful and creates less trauma to the skin due to the airbrush technique, thus minimal to zero bleeding. Microblading creates cuts into the skin, thus more bleeding is involved. Ombre powder has a similar sensation to an electric toothbrush pressed against the skin or rapid tweezing; some discomfort is to be expected as a needle is utilized. However, we use topical gel/creme lidocaine to aid in numbing the brow area.

Lasts Longer

Results vary based on lifestyle and skin type but ombre powder can last on average 2-3 years. Microblading, on the other hand, has a high likelihood of healing blotchy, spotty or with blurred strokes, thus requiring more frequent touch-ups, generating more long term wear and tear on the skin, the body repairs the wounded area by building collagen fibers, creating scars. Clients are more likely to have build up scars with microblading.

Great for All Skin Types

Ombre powder brows are great for any skin type. Microblading is only suitable for those with dry skin.

Still Looks Natural

While ombre powder brows have a more "filled in" look, the healed results appear like softly shaded brow pencil or powder. Immediately after the treatment, ombre powder can appear more saturated and bold, however, brows will fade up to 40% leaving a very soft finish and shape that will allow clients to quickly groom their brows going forward with a beautiful shape already designed.

Q&A

How long does the appointment take?

Varies from person to person but we book out 4 hours total but on average will be 3.5 hours. This includes filling out paperwork (10-15 min), shaping the brows (1 hr), numbing (15-20min) and tattooing (1.5-2 hrs).

Is one session enough to achieve desired result?

We recommend two sessions for all clients. It is necessary for you to come back within 8-10 weeks for the touch up. Most clients will not see the desired result with just one session, especially if you are getting a correction, or have very little hair on a natural eyebrow. However, some clients retain color so well that we send them home without the first touch up. After that, we suggest for you to return once a year for a color boost.

Why are my brows so bold/dark after getting them done?

The ink will settle darker immediately after the procedure but your brows will fade into a much lighter and softer finish. Keep in mind that healed brows fade up to 50% and the shape will shrink a little. Check "Healed results" on our instagram/facebook highlights for reference.

How long is the healing process?

The average healing period is approximately 7-14 days but it takes a full month for the color to fully set in. You might experience color loss after the scabs completely fall off but this is completely normal. The color will come back after a few days or even weeks. You must wait a full month to see the final result.

Why are my brows cracking and peeling?

This is a part of the healing process as your skin is renewing itself. Some people don't scab at all but the majority do. Please do not peel off the scabs as you will experience blotchy and uneven outcomes.

Will I be able to get the service if I'd had previous brow work done?

Absolutely, yes! However, a picture is reviewed prior to confirming and there will be an additional cover up fee of $175 added.

Will I be able to get Ombre Poweder brows if I have little to no hair?

Absolutely, yes! No matter the hair density Ombre Powder Brows works on everyone and gives a beautiful filled in powder look. However, there will be an additional $100 fee charged because extra pigment will need to be used for the same outcome.
